Pole and troll caught albacore tuna harvested in the US Pacific is a great option when looking for sustainably harvested tuna. These fisheries have low impacts on the environment and other species due to their method of capture. Populations of albacore are abundant in the US and sound management is in place to ensure sustainability of the fishery. Non-profits, such as the American Albacore Fishing Association, exist to bring albacore fishermen together and support responsible fishing practices. This group has also obtained Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) certification for their efforts towards towards sustainability.
