Salty Girl Seafood was founded by Norah Eddy and Laura Johnson out of a shared passion for the ocean and a desire to make purchasing and preparing sustainable, traceable seafood easy and accessible for anyone and everyone. Norah and Laura met on the first day of graduate school at University of California, Santa Barbara’s Bren School for Environmental Science & Management; both studying coastal marine resource management. The two became fast friends, realizing they had both worked as marine scientists aboard commercial fishing vessels in Alaska, been life-long ocean advocates, adventurers, and shared a vision of seeing the health of the oceans, fisheries, and fishing communities continue long into the future.
Salty Girl Seafood was launched the day the pair graduated from grad school. Today, the company sells sustainably sourced, wild-caught seafood perfectly seasoned with chef-inspired recipes in grocery stores throughout the US. Every fish is traceable back to where and how it was caught right on the back of the package, so you can be confident in the quality and sustainability of the seafood you eat.

All of our seafood is wild-caught in the cold, clean waters of the Pacific Ocean off the coast of Alaska and Oregon using ocean-friendly fishing practices.
We carefully select the fish we source using our 6-point sustainability assessment - vetting gear types, management structures, population, monitoring, habitat impacts, and socioeconomic conditions - to ensure the highest quality, most responsibly sourced seafood. Every time.
